Another 1,600km In The Books For Modenas – “longest Distance Covered By A Motorcycle Convoy In 24 Hours

Shah Alam, Friday, 14 October 2022 – Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (“MODENAS”) in collaboration with its Dominar D400 owners club, DC Project successfully completed a record-breaking convoy under the Malaysia Book of Records for the “Longest Distance Covered by A Motorcycle Convoy In 24 Hours”.

Flagged off by MODENAS Chief Executive Officer, Roslan Roskan, the convoy left Shah Alam at 9.40 a.m. on 1st October with a total of 25 Dominar D400 owners and 7 Pulsar NS200 owners. The convoy led by DC Project president, Muhammad Adib Bin Rapia’e, completed their grueling journey of 1,642km in 23 hours and 25 minutes, before ending their journey back in Shah Alam on 2nd October at 9.15 a.m.

The journey began from Glenmarie, Shah Alam and headed towards the MODENAS factory in Gurun, Kedah, for a quick group photo with a total of 399KM distance traveled as its first route. The convoy then continued 87KM towards the Malaysia-Thailand border in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah where they were greeted with some less-than-ideal weather. It rained for more than one third of the trip and theconvoy recalled that the temperatures dropped as low as 28 degrees Celsius. From Kedah, the group continued to ride 491KM heading South to Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur and made their way straight to Johor Bahru, Johor and finally back to Glenmarie, Shah Alam with a total distance of 659KM. As the day fades into a long, dark night and with little time to stop and eat, each riders brought protein bars and meal replacement drinks. Pit stops were brief and consisted of refueling, taking pictures of gas receipts as required by the Malaysia Book of records and washroom breaks. “It was pouring rain all the way from Kedah to Johor and I’m happy for the stability of the Dominar D400, despite occasional hydroplaning and people in cars staring at us for riding in the rain at 110km/h, our group found this part of the ride was relaxing. Thank you, MODENAS, for having pre-fitted ABS into both Dominar D400 and Pulsar NS200 models. Overall, the ride was smooth and full of memorable moments. It has solidified our friendship towards completing the national record challenge”, said Muhammad Adib.

“This is the second time for MODENAS to organise a 24-hour, 1600KM endurance ride and through this successful collaboration, the event managed to set a new Malaysia Book of Records attempt for the “Longest Distance Covered by A Motorcycle Convoy In 24 Hours”. Congratulations to all 32 riders in completing the challenge. Even though, I know for a fact that the group did not have much time to appreciate each state, nevertheless I truly hope that they have had an amazing sense of achievement and the joy in completing the ride,” ended Roslan Roskan.
