Kuala Lumpur – With the support of good samaritans, a recently launched public campaign on a new crowdfunding platform, Hanafundme.com took less than a month to successfully raise the funds required to get an income challenged man a motorcycle to help him move around.
Mohammad Azhar Alias, from Rawang, Selangor, takes on a part time job as a street sweeper when his family’s small home baking business got badly hit due to Covid19 so he could sustain the family’s income. And to add salt to his wound, his only mode of transportation, an aging motorcycle gave way during the MCO phase and he has no choice but to rent the same vehicle from friends to get him around. Although income challenged, he never fails to feed the abandoned and starving strays along the R&R stopovers whenever he was nearby the area doing street sweeping.
Hanafundme team had chanced upon Azhar’s case that was shared on social media and were moved to assist him to help raise the funds needed to get him a new motorcycle to move around. The successful campaign was also made possible with the generous support from the national motorcycle company, MODENAS.
A joyful and meaningful moment was witnessed at the MODENAS head office in Glenmarie last Friday, 5 June 2020, as Mohammad Azhar received his long awaited new vehicle’s key from Mahmood Abd Razak, Group Head of Strategic Communications of DRB-HICOM and Balkish Hood, Head of Marketing and Communications at MODENAS, and is proudly witnessed by Angie S Chin, the CEO and Co-Founder of Hanafundme.com.
